これらは文の最初に置かれることがあります(必ずしもそうではありません):There was no heating in the building. As a result, the workers had to be sent home.
While I was waiting, I read a magazine(待っている間、雑誌を読んでいた)
I stood up so that I could see better.(立ち上がったので、よく見えた)

文内の節を結ぶために、文の接続詞を単体でカンマで使用することはできません(例:I expect to be promoted, if not I’ll leaveではなく)。
The building was extremely well constructed and, as a result, difficult to demolish.(その建物は非常にしっかりと建設されていて、その結果、解体が困難でした。)
You could fly via Singapore; however, this isn’t the only way.(シンガポール経由で飛行することもできますが、これが唯一の方法ではありません。)
- Even though
Even though it was midday, I put on the light.(真昼であっても、私はライトをつけました。)
It was midday. Even so, I put on the light.(真昼でした。
We just don’t have the money to do the work, however necessary you think it is(私たちにはその仕事をするためのお金がありませんが、あなたがそれがどれほど必要か考えるにしても)
However she held the mirror, she couldn’t see the back of her neck(彼女がどのように鏡を持っても、彼女は首の後ろが見えませんでした。)
