自分の意見を表す副詞（Comment adverbs）
言っていることに対して、コメントを加えるためにいくつかの副詞を使用します。
- 確からしさを示す：apparently, certainly, clearly, definitely, obviously, presumably, probably, undoubtedly（明らかに、確かに、明らかに、間違いなく、明白に、おそらく、たぶん、疑いなく）
- 言われたことに対する態度や意見を示す：astonishingly, frankly, generally, honestly, interestingly, luckily, naturally, sadly, seriously, surprisingly, unbelievably（驚くべきことに、率直に、一般的に、正直に、興味深いことに、幸運にも、自然に、残念ながら、真剣に、驚くべきことに、信じられないことに）
- 誰かの行動を判断する：bravely, carelessly, foolishly, generously, kindly, rightly, stupidly, wisely, wrongly（勇敢に、不注意に、愚かに、寛大に、親切に、正当に、愚かに、賢明に、間違って）
意見を表す副詞は、通常は文全体に適用され、よく前置位置で使用されます。ただし、文の終わりや他の位置でも使用することができます。文章の先頭や終わりでは、書き言葉ではコンマで区切り、話し言葉ではイントネーションで区切ります。
- Presumably, he didn’t hear me when I called.（おそらく、私が呼んだ時に彼は私の声が聞こえなかったのだろう）
- The book was based on his experience in China, apparently.（その本は明らかに彼の中国での経験に基づいていた）
判断を示す副詞は、通常は主語の後に続きますが、強調のために前置位置に置くこともあります。
- He kindly offered to give me a lift.（親切に私を乗せることを申し出た）
- Kindly, he offered to give me a lift.（強調のために「親切に」と言います）
意見を表す副詞が文の一部に適用される場合は、他の位置でも使用できます。
- Astonishingly, she did well in the exam.（驚くべきことに、彼女は試験でうまくいった）（彼女がうまくいったことに驚いた）
- She did astonishingly well in the exam.（彼女は試験で驚くほどうまくいった）（彼女は非常にうまくいった）
- You’ve had a major operation. Obviously, it will be very painful for a while.（大きな手術を受けました。明らかに、しばらくはとても痛いでしょう）（私はあなたがこれをすでに知っていると予想します）
- When he stood up it was obviously very painful.（彼が立ち上がったとき、明らかにとても痛かった）（その痛みは明らかでした）
視点副詞（Viewpoint adverbs）
いくつかの副詞は、私たちが話している視点を明確にするために使用されます。つまり、何の特徴について話しているのかを示します。（biologically, environmentally, financially, ideologically, industrially, logically, medically. morally, outwardly, politically, technically, visually といった副詞）
- 経済的に見て、その事故はトンネルのオーナーにとって災害だった。（Financially, the accident has been a disaster for the owners of the tunnel.）
- 兄弟は外見的には似ているかもしれませんが、性格は非常に異なります。（The brothers may be alike physically, but they have very different personalities.）
また、同様の方法でいくつかのフレーズが使用されます。
- 政治的に見ると、今年の夏は政府にとって重要な時期です。（Politically/In political terms, this summer is a crucial time for the government.）
いくつかの副詞やフレーズは、私たちが表現している視点を明示するために使用されます。
- The head of National Bank is to receive, according to reports, a £1 million bonus.（報道によれば、国立銀行のトップは100万ポンドのボーナスを受ける予定です。）
- In my view, the foreign minister should resign immediately.（私の見解では、外務大臣は即座に辞任すべきです。）
正確な副詞の使用は、文の意味を明確に伝える上で重要です。
具体例
Comment adverbs and viewpoint adverbs:
- Comment adverbs:
- Indicate likelihood: Apparently, the concert is sold out.
- Express attitude or opinion: Frankly, I didn’t enjoy the movie.
- Show judgment of actions: She foolishly left her keys in the car.
- Usually used in front position, but can also be placed at the end or in other positions with appropriate punctuation or intonation.
Additional examples of comment adverbs:
- Indicate likelihood: Probably, he won’t be able to make it to the meeting.
- Express attitude or opinion: Surprisingly, they chose the cheaper option.
- Show judgment of actions: Wisely, she invested her savings in the stock market.
- Viewpoint adverbs:
- Specify the viewpoint from which something is discussed: Financially, the project is a success.
- Highlight particular aspects of something: Biologically, humans share similarities with other mammals.
- Phrases used to express similar viewpoints: Politically speaking, the election results are crucial.
- Adverbs/phrases indicating whose viewpoint is expressed: In my opinion, the company should reconsider its strategy.
Additional examples of viewpoint adverbs:
- Specify viewpoint: Environmentally, this decision will have long-term consequences.
- Highlight particular aspects: Technically, the device operates flawlessly.
- Phrases indicating viewpoint: From a medical perspective, the treatment seems promising.
- Expressing personal opinion: Personally, I believe education is key to societal progress.
Note: The specific examples provided can be modified or replaced with other relevant adverbs and phrases to suit different contexts and statements.

Note: Commas or intonation breaks are often used to separate comment adverbs and viewpoint adverbs from the rest of the sentence in writing or speech.
